Classical Reference01
Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, Chapter 36, Sloka 39-40 (paraphrased):
When all planets occupy the four Kendras (1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th houses) and no planet is placed elsewhere, the native becomes beautiful to look at, widely renowned, long-lived, virtuous, and of royal status. This pattern is called Kamala (Lotus) Yoga.
Definition02
All planets (Sun to Saturn, plus Rahu/Ketu if considered) occupy the four Kendras (quadrants) i.e., 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th houses. No planet is placed in any other house (2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11, 12). Planets may be distributed among these four houses in any combination.

✦No planet in 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 8th, 9th, 11th, 12th houses
✦Planets may be distributed among the 4 Kendras in any combination
✦All four Kendras must have at least one planet (otherwise it would be Gada, Shankha, etc.)

Important Notes07
✦The four Kendras form a cross (like a lotus with four petals)
✦The lotus is the seat of Goddess Lakshmi (wealth, beauty, fortune)
✦This yoga brings all four forms of prosperity: Dharma (virtue), Artha (wealth), Kama (desires), Moksha (liberation)
✦The native blossoms like a lotus beautiful, yet rooted in this world
