Variations
01
Akriti Hala Yoga (Kama Trikona Variation)[Classical Reference – Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, Chapter 36, Sloka 51-52 (paraphrased):"When all planets are located only in the Kama Trikona houses (3rd, 7th, and 11th houses), with no planets elsewhere, the native becomes gluttonous, servile, blessed with friends, liked by people, living by agriculture, and tormented by poverty. This is the Kama Trikona variation of Hala Yoga."]
Definition
02
All planets (Sun to Saturn, plus Rahu/Ketu if considered) are located only in the trinal houses other than the Trikonas – specifically, the Kama Trikona (desire triangle): 3rd, 7th, and 11th houses. No planet is placed in any other house (1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12). Planets may be distributed among these three houses in any combination.
Understanding the Pattern
03
Kama Trikona means the triangle of desires, relationships, and fulfillment
3rd house – Courage, effort, siblings, communication, desires
7th house – Spouse, partnerships, marriage, public dealings
11th house – Gains, income, fulfillment of desires, friends
Together, these form the triangle of material desires and their fulfillment
Understanding the Pattern
04
All planets in 3rd, 7th, and 11th houses only (Kama Trikona)
No planet in 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 12th houses
Planets may be distributed among the 3 Kama Trikona houses in any combination
All three Kama Trikona houses must have at least one planet
Effects
05
1Gluttonous (overeats, indulgent in food, greedy for taste)
2Servile (servant-like nature, working for others, lacking independence)
3Blessed with friends (good companionship, supportive social circle)
4Liked by people (popular, well-liked, socially accepted)
5Living by agriculture (earns livelihood through farming, land, or natural resources)
6Tormented by poverty (suffers from financial struggles, never fully secure)

All planets are only in Kama Trikona houses (3,7,11) – hence Akriti Hala Yoga (Kama Trikona) is fully formed.
Important Notes
07
The name "Hala" means plough/yoke – symbolizing agriculture, hard labor, and servitude
This is the Kama Trikona version of Hala Yoga (the previous Hala was Artha Trikona – 2,6,10)
All three Kama Trikona houses occupied means the native's life is focused on desires, relationships, and gains- "Gluttonous" – due to planets in 3rd (desires for taste) and 7th (indulgence in company)- "Servile" – due to planets in 3rd (effort/service) and 7th (working with/for others)- "Blessed with friends" – due to planets in 11th house (friends, social circle)- "Liked by people" – due to 7th house (public dealing) and 11th (popularity)- "Living by agriculture" – 3rd (effort on land), 7th (partnership in farming), 11th (gains from produce)- "Tormented by poverty" – despite planets in gains-related houses (11th), the native struggles because 1st (self-strength), 5th (past merits), 9th (fortune), and 2nd (accumulated wealth) are empty
Deeper Understanding
08
Classical texts often give identical results for all Hala Yoga variations
However, house meanings modify the expression of these effects
Artha Hala (2,6,10) – poverty comes from lack of fortune (9th) and self-strength (1st)
Kama Hala (3,7,11) – poverty comes from lack of accumulated wealth (2nd) and fortune (9th)
The struggle is the same – only the arena of struggle differs
