Akriti Hala Yoga (Artha Trikona)

आकृति हल योग (अर्थ त्रिकोण)
Artha Trikona. 2nd, 6th, 10th
Classical Reference
01
Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, Chapter 36, Sloka 49-50 (paraphrased):
When all planets are located only in the Artha Trikona houses (2nd, 6th, and 10th houses), with no planets elsewhere, the native becomes gluttonous, servile, blessed with friends, liked by people, living by agriculture, and tormented by poverty. This pattern is called Hala (Plough/Yoke) Yoga.
Definition
02
All planets (Sun to Saturn, plus Rahu/Ketu if considered) are located only in the trinal houses other than the Trikonas – specifically, the Artha Trikona (wealth triangle): 2nd, 6th, and 10th houses. No planet is placed in any other house (1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12). Planets may be distributed among these three houses in any combination.
Understanding the Pattern
03
Artha Trikona means the triangle of wealth and worldly pursuits
2nd house – Accumulated wealth, speech, family, food
6th house – Service, enemies, health, daily work, debts
10th house – Career, profession, reputation, authority
Together, these form the triangle of material existence
Understanding the Pattern
04
All planets in 2nd, 6th, and 10th houses only (Artha Trikona)
No planet in 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 11th, 12th houses
Planets may be distributed among the 3 Artha Trikona houses in any combination
All three Artha Trikona houses must have at least one planet
Effects
05
1Gluttonous (overeats, indulgent in food, greedy for taste)
2Servile (servant-like nature, working for others, lacking independence)
3Blessed with friends (good companionship, supportive social circle)
4Liked by people (popular, well-liked, socially accepted)
5Living by agriculture (earns livelihood through farming, land, or natural resources)
6Tormented by poverty (suffers from financial struggles, never fully secure)

6th HouseVirgoMars, Jupiter, Moon
10th HouseCapricornSun, Saturn
All planets are only in Artha Trikona houses (2,6,10) – hence Akriti Hala Yoga is fully formed.
Important Notes
07
The name "Hala" means plough/yoke – symbolizing agriculture, hard labor, and servitude
This is the opposite of Shringataka Yoga – Shringataka has planets in Dharma Trikona (1,5,9); Hala has planets in Artha Trikona (2,6,10)
All three Artha Trikona houses occupied means the native's life is focused on wealth, service, and career- "Gluttonous" – due to planets in 2nd house (food, taste)- "Servile" – due to planets in 6th house (service, servitude)- "Blessed with friends" – classical texts specifically mention this effect- "Liked by people" – due to 6th house (service to others) and 10th house (public image)- "Living by agriculture" – 2nd (land), 6th (daily labor), 10th (profession) combine to suggest farming- "Tormented by poverty" – despite planets in wealth-related houses (2,6,10), the native struggles because of lack of planets in 1st (self-strength), 5th (past merits), 9th (fortune)
Deeper Understanding
08
2nd house (wealth) – gives ability to earn, but not necessarily to keep
6th house (service) – earns through hard labor, not through fortune
10th house (career) – gives profession, but without 1st,5th,9th support, it remains low-status
Empty 1st – weak self-confidence and vitality
Empty 5th – lack of past merits and intelligence for wealth creation
Empty 9th – lack of fortune and luck
Hence: tormented by poverty despite earning through labor
