Yantra

A Yantra is the geometric, visual form of a devata or graha, just as a Mantra is its sonic form. The bindu (central point), interlocking triangles, lotus petals and bhupura (outer square gate) together compress the deity’s pranic field into a contemplable diagram. When etched on copper or silver, energised through proper pratishtha and installed in a clean north-east shrine, a Yantra becomes a living locus of that deity’s grace.

Common Jyotish-prescribed yantras include the Shri Yantra (Lakshmi, abundance), the Surya Yantra (authority, health), the Mahamrityunjaya Yantra (longevity, healing), the Navagraha Yantra (balancing all nine planets), and individual graha yantras prescribed for specific dasha and gochar afflictions.
