रुद्राक्ष

Rudraksha

Sacred Beads of Lord Shiva

Rudraksha (literally Rudra-aksha, the tears of Shiva) are sacred seeds borne by the Elaeocarpus ganitrus tree across the Himalayan foothills and parts of South-East Asia. In Sanatana tradition they are revered as Shiva’s direct prasad: wearing or japa-counting with Rudraksha calms the nervous system, regulates the subtle pranic flow and confers the grace of the planetary deity associated with each mukhi (face) of the bead.

Rudraksha beads exist from 1 mukhi to 21 mukhi, each face governed by a specific graha or deity. The 5-mukhi (governed by Brihaspati) is the most accessible and universally beneficial; rare beads such as 1-mukhi (Surya), 14-mukhi (Hanuman) and 21-mukhi (Kubera) are prescribed only after careful kundli analysis.
