ॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे
सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम्
उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान्
मृत्योर्मुक्षीय माऽमृतात्

The Mahamrityunjaya Mantra is addressed to Tryambaka (the three-eyed Shiva). The verse prays for release from the bondage of death, as easily as a ripened cucumber falls from its vine, while remaining bound to immortality (maa amrtaat). The Markandeya Purana records that the boy-sage Markandeya, fated to die at sixteen, was granted eternal life through unbroken recitation of this mantra.

The associated Homa, performed with prescribed samidha (sacred wood), ghee and herbs, is the most powerful classical remedy for Markesh, Sade Sati, severe Shani affliction, and protracted health issues. Classical authorities prescribe homa lengths of 1,008, 10,000 or 1,25,000 ahuti depending on the kundli’s severity.
